Summer is the time for getaways, and we especially love road trips that end with camping!
Everyone has a different idea of what camping means. You might be a no-frills camper who hikes through the woods with just the essential gear, sleeping in the grass under the stars. Or maybe you’re a tent camper, who likes to rough it with a vinyl roof over your head!
Of course, you could be a “glamper,” who likes a door between you and the bears at night. And maybe running water!
Regardless of your style, we all know that camping is about two primary things: nature and snacks. And if you’re out enjoying nature, you would much rather be exploring or swimming than waking up early to cook a big breakfast!
One of our favorite camping recipes is this one for Double Cheese Breakfast Burrito. Breakfast burritos are perfect for camping, because:
- They can be made at home before you leave for your trip
- You can pack them full of protein and carbohydrates for mega-energy
- They can be customized for picky eaters and special diets
- They keep well in a cooler and can be quickly reheated over a campfire, on a grill, or in the microwave, if you have one
- Uh, they’re delicious!
Here are a few of our other go-to recipes for packing up to bring camping:
Herbed Refrigerator Pickles (try this recipe with other veggies, too, like carrots or bell peppers)
Marshmallows (for s’mores!)
And since grilling under the stars is part of the fun, here are a few super-simple recipes to prepare over your campfire!
Grilled Kielbasa with Corn Cabbage Slaw (make the slaw at home!)
