Hibiscus flower water and Sumac Berry Tea

Makes 8 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 quarts boiling water
  • 8 small mint leaves, for garnish (optional)

Directions

  1. Pour boiling water over hibiscus flowers and sugar. Stir and let steep for at least an hour, then strain and cool. Garnish with a mint leaf, if desired. The hibiscus water can be served hot or iced.

Chef’s Note: Basil can be substituted for the hibiscus flowers to make basil water.
