Blood Orange Margarita

If you’re looking for drama, blood orange juice is reliable for lending a burst of color and a pop of flavor to any party. Adjust the sweetness to your preferences with simple syrup, and blend the mixture with ice if you like your margarita frozen. Luckily, there’s no wrong way.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Blue Agave tequila
  • 1 oz Cointreau or another orange liqueur
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz blood orange juice
  • Simple syrup, as needed (optional)

Directions

  1. Combine the tequila, liqueur, lime juice, and blood orange juice in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until the contents are cold and strain or pour into a cocktail or margarita glass. If you prefer your margarita frozen, pour the contents in a blender and purée until smooth. If you like your margaritas a little on the sweeter side, add some simple syrup.

For a Pomegranate Margarita, substitute the blood orange juice pomegranate juice and add 1/4 oz simple syrup to the recipe. Garnish with pomegranate seeds.
